D3-brane

Idea

The D-brane of dimension $3+1$ in type IIB string theory.

Properties

For small string coupling its worldvolume theory is super Yang-Mills theory. At strong coupling it forms a black brane solution of type II supergravity with near horizon anti de Sitter spacetime geometry ${\mathrm{AdS}}_5$. The relation between the two description in the AdS5/CFT4-correspondence.
