Idea

In quantum hadrodynamics, the hadron current is the current of hadrons.

In models with fundamental quarkfields qq (quantum chromodynamics or quark-meson coupling models) the (electromagnetic) hadron current is given by

J μ=q¯Qγ μq J^\mu \;=\; \overline{q} Q \gamma^\mu q

where QQ denotes the quark charge matrix (e.g. Piller-Weise 90).

(This is in contrast, for instance, to the lepton current, given by the analogous expression, but with leptons instead of quarks.)

In confined chiral perturbation theory the hadron current is given by vector mesons (vector meson dominance), and including the AA-variation of the chiral anomaly WZW term (see e.g. Wakamatsu 11).
