Remark: Jakob pointed out that nLab has a description of Deligne cohomology in terms of path-groupoids and classifying spaces, this might eventually give a more conceptual understanding of the Beilinson regulator, since K-theory is also related to classifying spaces. Could it be related to the infinite prime and maybe the classifying spaces in Flach-Morin?
