Definition

Given an index set I and a matrix A=(A ij) i,jIA = (A_{i j})_{i,j \in I}, a principal submatrix of AA is a matrix of the form (A ij) i,jI(A_{i j})_{i,j \in I'} for III' \subset I some subset.
